Ideas on Social Learning

Social learning initiatives are sparked initially by modeling the behavior necessary for success. Technology is just the medium that aids in communication. The driving force behind collaborative learning is the commitment to engage in regular dialogue.

Commitment can be indicated by the following:

1. Creation of a regular time and frequency for the dialogue to occur
2. Establishing a set goal for the group
3. Identifying and documenting a list of discussion topics
4. Behavior standards are determined
5. Participant bios documented and made available to members
6. A schedule of activities planned in advance and made available to members
